lady turns into chicken
I was talking to a friend of mine here and he was telling me about a rumor that started early in the morning a few days ago and by noon it had gotten all over the city. It seems that a woman that makes a living carrying things for people bent over to pick up some money she saw on the ground. This is considered greedy here and should never be done. The story goes that as she picked up the money she turned into a chicken. People really believe this kind of thing. The next day it was on the front page of the most respectable newspaper in Ghana.

Reggae is the musical form that has permeated the world. Its pungent beats, pulsating melodies and preach and teach rhymes became known to the world by visionaries that included Bob and Rita Marley.
Celebrating this legacy has climaxed in the Africa Unite annual event in Ghana, Africa. February 6, 2006 Africa Unite signifies Bob Marley the entertainer extraordinaire, philanthropist, prophet, pioneer, musician – the man who would be sixty-one. Africa Unite means recognition of and depicting all the elements that were associated with this display of excellence by the late Bob. Among those who helped Bob to achieve such an iconic status are represented to the fullest at Africa Unite in addition to other elements.
Africa Unite takes place at the International Trade Fair Centre in Accra, Ghana - the more metropolitan of the areas. The event was launched in November 2005 at the International Press Centre also in Ghana.
On stage Africa Unite to release reggae rhythms will be: -
. Rita Marley
. Marley Brothers
. Culture featuring Joseph Hill
. I-Threes
. Morgan Heritage
. Nigerian artistes – Two Face and VIP
. Ghanaians local performers and Osibisa, first African to break out who also toured with Bob for a time; Culture holding the king of Africa title, one also shared by Burning Spear; Local represented artistes doing well with their musical interpretation of the new world beat synonymous of the ever-evolving face of music.
For the last two years Rita Marley’s conception of Africa Unite as a free event began in Addis Ababa at the Maskal Square with three hundred thousand persons relishing the legacy of continuum by the legend who adored Africa. Africa Unite 2005 was Bob Marley’s 60th birthday, which also included a symposium on the life and works of The Man.
Africa Unite 2006 will host a range of free events with the Concert costing minimally for the general public and VIPs. This year the emphasis is on generating funds for the continuation of work now in progress in Ghana especially in childcare and the holistic Marley Health Care Center in Konkonuru.
Rita Marley embraced the man Bob Marley and has continued to keep the torch ablaze by fulfilling and extending the unfinished work. Africa Unite is of such. At least, it is a part that becomes visible to the crowds that will converge from nations of the globe to view what almost is a tangible manifestation of all that Bob represented. This event certainly represents to the state of affairs of this world, the intimate and individual experiences of those who even just simply overhear the words of deep penetration beyond the borders of regular introspection of what is mostly a superficial existence, the words that are the basic underlying projection of Bob’s expression and his profound desire to release the mind of ideology meant to enslave average humans. For many we still live a robotic existence cultivated by regimes of oppression and regulatory measures which prevent the illumination of the light necessary to churn and oil the wheels of a perfect symbiotic nucleus.
Africa Unite 2006 promises to be an experience beyond the ordinary, better yet, beyond the extraordinary.
